We
are extremely proud to announce the birth of our 4 little boys Rueben
2lb 14oz, Zachary 2lb 8oz, Joshua 3lb 1oz and Samuel 2lb 13oz into the
world. They were born on the 29th of February at 22:48pm and all
delivered within 6 minutes of each other in that order. They are all
healthy and happy and doing really well. Reuben and Zachary have been
given a few doses of Surfactant to help their lungs cope with
being born premature, which makes breathing easier and prevents the
lungs from collapsing. They have also been on mechanical ventilation to
avoid respiratory distress and maintain oxygen levels and air pressure
which they will be weaned off within 48 hours after birth. Otherwise
the hospital is really happy with their condition and we have been told
to expect them to be in care for 6/8 weeks. They are so small yet so
perfect!
Above all, by some incredible chance, 4 beds are available here so they will all be in the same hospital. We were told to expect them to be split so it is amazing that they are all together. Words can`t describe how grateful and relieved we are!
Everything about their births went really smoothly and we thank the hospital and staff (top to bottom) for their well oiled and professional delivery! Thanks everyone for making it happen and to everyone who has sent gifts and supported Emma through the indescribably difficult period she was in hospital. We really appreciate it and all the words of encouragement have really helped. Thank you.
I (Martin) am writing this post while Emma is recovering and getting some well needed and deserved rest. She is doing well but naturally extremely sore from the cesarean. She is under close observation and being well looked after and its really comforting to know she and the babies are receiving the best possible treatment. We have been told that she can expect be back home in about 3/5 days which is fantastic as she has been in hospital for nearly 7 weeks. Cant wait!!!
I took Luke to see his Mum and brothers today and was really pleased that he was so comfortable around them. When he woke up this morning, the first thing he asked was to go to the hospital to see his brothers. We are going to have one BUSY house!!!
Here are our little stars, well done boys

such lovely news to wake up to! Congratulations to you all on your little bundles, they are gorgeous and what fantastic weights, well done Emma on some fabulous cooking there. I have been reading your blog for a few weeks now and thinking of you lots. I'm a mummy to twin boys born at 34 weeks and they are now mischievous 16 month olds. A twin pregnancy is hard enough I can only imagine how difficult it has been for you all having four on board. So pleased for you that they are all here safely and how fabulous they are all together in the same hospital. Wishing you all lots of love and luck for the future as a family of 7 :) Emma xxx
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful, inspirational news. I am so happy for you all, especially that you are all together. Look forwards to continuing to follow your story, your boys are 1 month, 1 day older than my girls xxxx

Just amazing! So very very happy for you guys! Beautiful names, beautiful babies. Fingers crossed they go from strength to strenth and you have them all home with you as soon as possible. I "only" have twins and feel doubly blessed - you're quadruply blessed! Enjoy getting to know your little bundles xxx
ReplyDeleteMany congratulations to all of you. What a wonderful story! All the best to everyone.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I hope you don't mind me asking but do you mean Reuben? All the other boys have traditional spellings so I did wonder.... Hope they grow and thrive and are home soon.
ReplyDeleteMany congratulations!!!!! They look amazing! And well done mummy for doing so well!! I'm overjoyed that the boys are here safe and sound and doing so well!! Emma is an inspiration! I wish her a speedy recovery and hope the boys are well enough to come home soon!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations again!!! xxx
Congratulations! How amazing.
ReplyDeleteMy twin boys were born at 32+0 weighing 4lbs each and were home in just under 3 weeks. I have just discovered your blog and haven't looked at much of it, but saw your post on breastfeeding. I'm sure you're incredibly busy at the moment, but I just wanted to wish you good luck. I exclusively breastfed my twins, starting in SCBU - I really believe that expressing frequently in the first couple of weeks is really key. When mine left hospital I had 11 litres of frozen breast milk in the freezer!!! You need a good electic pump, faith it can be done and some good luck. If you can give them all some breastmil that sounds great (and it genuinely is really easy once you get the hang of it). On the other hand, if it doesn't work out, then don't worry - you've given your boys an amazing start by getting so far already! If I can offer any more advice then do message me.
